Is User Interviews legit? What we checked, and what it pays

User Interviews is a real, operating focus groups and interviews. We last checked its published terms and payout rules on 2026-08-01, against the provider's own documentation. What is worth knowing before you join is not whether it exists, but what it actually pays: $50 – $150 per completed session (not an hourly rate) on the published figures, with a None — paid per study cash-out floor.
"Legit" gets used for two different questions. The first is whether the company is real and pays people at all. The second is whether joining is worth your time. This page answers both, and they have different answers.
We do not operate accounts on the panels we write about, so nothing here is a personal earnings claim. Everything below is taken from User Interviews's published documentation and terms, with the date we last opened them shown at the bottom of the page.
The checked figures
| Type of company | Focus groups and interviews |
|---|---|
| Minimum age | 18+ |
| Countries named in its terms | US-heavy, some remote-global studies |
| Published pay range | $50 – $150 per completed session; some studies higher |
| Cash-out floor | None — paid per study |
| Reported payout speed | Within 10 business days of the session |
| Share of surveys that screen you out | High at application stage; low once accepted |
| Documentation last checked | 2026-08-01 |
The complaints that are fair
- You apply and are screened; most applications are declined.
- One to four accepted studies a month is a realistic ceiling for most profiles.
- Sessions are scheduled calls — you need a quiet hour and a webcam.
- Professional and niche profiles get far more invitations than general consumers.
How User Interviews compares on the things people complain about
Cash-out floor and payout speed are the two figures behind most "scam" accusations in this category. A panel that makes you reach $50 before paying feels like a scam long before it is one.
| Panel | Cash-out floor | Reported payout speed |
|---|---|---|
| User Interviews | None — paid per study | Within 10 business days of the session |
| Survey Junkie | $5.00 (500 points) | PayPal usually under 24h |
| Swagbucks | $3.00 (300 SB) PayPal / gift card | Gift cards 0 – 24h, PayPal 1 – 10 days |
| Prolific | £5 / $6 equivalent | Instant to 3 business days after approval |
| Ipsos i-Say | $5.00 (500 points) | 24 – 72 hours |
| Branded Surveys | $5.00 (500 points) | 1 – 3 business days |
Worth knowing
Eligibility beyond the countries named above is decided at signup, so treat the list as the floor rather than the limit.
